Helio and Haylo Ventures to target micro displays with leading perovskite platform

Helio Display Materials, the leading developer of perovskite-based colour conversion materials for displays has entered into a strategic partnership with Haylo Ventures, a venture operator specialising in accelerating the commercialisation of deep tech. This alliance targets micro displays for AR/VR headsets, signifying a pivotal shift in Helio's strategic direction.

David Hayes, founding partner of Haylo, said “I am extremely impressed by what the Helio team has already demonstrated, and I believe that Helio’s perovskite platform has unique potential to meet the very high brightness and resolution requirements for micro displays. I have full confidence in our combined team's ability to create the winning solution for this important new category of displays.”

Prior to founding Haylo Ventures, David Hayes led Wave Optics as CEO, transitioning it from an R&D-centric organisation to a thriving product business culminating in a large scale acquisition by Snap Inc. in May 2021.

Under the new arrangement, David Hayes will take up the role of Executive Chairman at Helio. Simon Jones (current CEO), and Mark Verrall (Chair) will step down from their current roles in the company.

“I'm incredibly grateful for the dedication and significant work Simon and Mark have done in bringing Helio to this point. Their outstanding leadership has created a strong foundation for the company's future, and I look forward to building upon it with Haylo Ventures."
